New Album - 'So We Would Know' Available NOW!

Apr 01

I’m so excited to share this with you!  “So We Would Know” is 11 songs about God’s goodness, faithfulness, mercy and love.  These songs are based on old hymn texts I’ve found, most of which were written in the 1700-1800’s.  It’s old hymns made new.  The physical album will be officially released in May 2013.  If you visit my BANDCAMP page, you can Pre-Order a copy of the album AND get a digital download of the entire album TODAY.  Right in time for Good Friday & Easter.
This collection of spiritual songs sits very close to my heart.  I hope you will find them encouraging, and I hope they will point you towards the greatest love of all.

Plain Vanilla Me ReMastered

Jan 16

I recently ordered a new batch of Plain Vanilla Me albums.  I made PVMe when I was in college and still learning the basic ins and outs of the industry.  My friends and I recorded the album in hallways, bathrooms, and bedrooms; and we did the best we could and learned as we went.  The album is so special to me.  So before I reordered this new batch, I had PVMe remastered by my friends at Independent Mastering.  They did a bang up job, and it has retained all of it’s quirks and intimacy.  It sounds fabulous.  If you want a copy of the new Plain Vanilla Me CD, click here.  If you have a copy of the original release - you’re one of the lucky few - it’s now an out-of-print collector’s item.

Recording with The Gospel Coalition

Jan 06

I went to Kentucky back in November and recorded some music for an album that’s releasing in April of 2013.  It’s called ‘Songs from the Book of Luke’ and it’s an album that will be released at The Gospel Coalition’s 2013 Conference.  I got to work with the wonderful folks at Sojourn Music, and my song on the disc is called ‘Be Merciful To Me’.  The song is an old hymn text, with a new melody.  I’m really excited about this project, and will share more with you, as soon as there’s more to tell.

Sobriety America Foundation's Holiday CD

Dec 03

This holiday season, The Sobriety America Foundation has put together a disc called The Gift of Christmas, which has my song ‘Come Thou Long Expected Jesus’ on it. It’s full of Christmas and holiday songs by Nashville songwriters.  I think my favorite song on the disc is Eric Paslay’s rendition of ‘We Three Kings’.
The disc is $15, and it’s an opportunity for you to get and to give, all at the same time. You get to GET new music, you get to GIVE a new shot at a sober life to someone in need. Check it out at the links above.  And remember… it’s What You Give Away…

Alchemy Songwriting Competition

Oct 19

I am completely humbled to have been asked to be a judge at this year’s Alchemy Songwriting Competition. I feel completely inadequate, but I promise I will do my very best to encourage great songwriting. And I’m excited about judging songs alongside the other two judges, Mary Steenburgen (Academy Award Winning Actress) and Andy Davis (Founder of Music Empowers Foundation).
The Alchemy Competition is an Arkansas based songwriting competition in it’s second year - and there are so many great things about this competition. First of all, 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit Blackbird Academy of Arts, Inc., a non-profit arts education organization based in Conway, Arkansas. The contest is open to anyone (world-wide) with a song in your heart and the ability to enter it via the entry form online. The top ten overall winners are invited to perform their songs for a live (music loving) audience on December 7th in Conway Arkansas. And last but not least, not only are you getting your music heard, but your $35 entry fee is helping to encourage more art and music and creativity through Blackbird Academy’s efforts. Win-win-WIN.
Last year’s winner was Adam Hambrick, who is a phenomenal singer-songwriter from Conway, Arkansas. You can check out him and all the other winners from last year by clicking HERE.
For more information about the contest, please visit www.thealchemycompetition.org.  Entries are being accepted through November 1, 2012.

My first Official music video!

Aug 29

Drumroll please….  Introducing my first official music video!

I Could Get Used To This - official music video

Special thanks to Ben Gortmaker (guitar) and Hitoshi Yamaguchi (cello) for their guest appearances and to Tommy Wilson and Ryan Newman for creating this sweet little thing.  The video was recorded at Shelby Bottoms in East Nashville (TN).

The song is from the ‘As It Should Be’ EP.  Co-written with Scott Sanford.  The amazing musicians who played with me on this track are Ben Gortmaker (guitar), Brad Odum (drums), Drew Wilson (bass), Dan Hochhalter (fiddle), Ronda Armstrong (cello).  The album was produced by Treva & The Suits and Erick Jaskowiak.

Watch it, rate it, comment on it, share it and boldly spread the love and the sweetness around.
